Many good points, some of them genuinely outrage-inducing. Very acerbic, just like Dawkins. I took away from this book compelling arguments and clever quips, but also the sense of what it is like to suddenly lose confidence in something you believe strongly.

Fredric's are the shoulders upon which many greats have stood.

This series is a perfect balance of grim and amusing, hilarious and heart-breaking. Reading McMurtry leaves me feeling oddly comforted, probably because it makes me realize that the things I think are important aren't really important.

Excellent short stories, dark and thought-provoking. Few words used very efficiently.

Scary read. We really have no idea to what extent we are affecting the planet.

Hardboiled.

So badass. Stories within stories. I am seriously impressed by Simmons' ability to write so many genres in so many voices. Not only is each story good enough to stand on its own, but each one provides another piece to the overall puzzle.

No time to write more, must start Fall of Hyperion.

This was a mediocre book. It wasn't badly written, but it was repetitive and gloomy. The protagonists were hard to bear.
