I really enjoyed this whimsical and magical book. Who knew I'd adore the art style and world so much? I had to pick it up after Elliot Brooks mentioned it. I trust her recommendations and this was a definite hit. I cannot wait for Volume 2!

Did not finish book. Stopped at 61%.
When I started this book, I was genuinely intrigued by the worldbuilding and our protagonist's mysterious background. However, it started getting stagnant and I've lost all motivation to continue reading it. I'm not invested any more in the mysteries and characters. I would say if you enjoy a rollercoaster ride, to check it out. It starts slow, speeds up, then slows right back down. Its not for me

I thoroughly devoured this book. The prose, characters and strange fairy tale haplenings enticed me and would not let go. Ava Reid is incredibly talented at weaving these incredibly dark gothic tale. I am in awe of the way Marlinchen burrowed into my heart. I rooted for her survival and happiness, as much as I wanted the monsters in her life to suffer. This is a very dark tale that deals with triggering content, so do be warned and look it up on the authors site.

Now im off to read more of her work x

I knew this was Reylo coded and I thoroughly enjoyed it, despite not being part of the fandom. The worldbuilding was very full on from the beginning which meant it had a slower start. You're thrust into it and its all a bit confusing. However, after the 30% mark, it starts to pick up in speed and the last 20% was the most fun I've had reading.

I spent the last 2 chapters and epilogue sobbing. I've succeeded in giving myself a headache.
