i swear to god, since i was listening to the audiobook of this my thoughts have been in a scottish accent and it is the most bizarre thing.

i’ll admit it, i watched the show before jumping onto the books, but that’s mostly because i wasn’t expecting to fall in love with this story as much as i have. i think my soft spot really comes from the fact that jamie reminds me so much of my partner nick, so the love between jamie and claire always made me feel super tender

i would probably this this closer to a 3.5 if i could. i had quite a few issues with the world building of this book, but i really did enjoy this rag-tag group that is trying to save the realm. they were an unlikely group, but i feel like like complimented each other really well.

it wasn’t until the end that we find out exactly why corayne was “chosen”. it seemed like no one really knew why, but they all just had a feeling she was going to fix the spindles so they ran with it.

i felt like the ending was somewhat underwhelming, but when the sequel comes out i’ll likely still give it a read because of my relationship to the characters.

these are the kinds of books that remind me why i love the art of story telling, and inspire me to write. i loved addie and henry’s characters, and the way that schwab organized the moments in the present with the many different decades was beautifully done.
