A true high-stakes, drama-filled entertaining piece that looks into the complexities of acting, film production and corruption in the Hollywood film industry brought to light in this captivating historical mystery thriller fiction. I truly could not predict where the plot was going, with all the twists, the conflict and history between actors and the mystery, had me on the edge of my seat. I simply couldm't stop listening and finished this read in one sitting. I will be recommending this star of a novel for a long time. It definitely deserves its time in the spotlight. It's so lyrically and captivatingly written with characters that have such good depth and drama attached to them that I can't help but give kudos to the author. Truly love the Hollywood glamour and snappy pace.

In my opinion, this displayed the complexities of family dynamics, interactions and connectedness really well. The author managed to express these complexities very well and beautifully. The whole experience felt very realistic and I appreciated the fact that not everything turned out perfect, it was messy, it was emotional, it was funny, heartfelt but most impotantly, the story of Savannah, Bianca and Cora.
Cora's detachment, Bianca's hopeful optimism and Bianca's determination were all things that touched me. Their experiences as individuals and as a family had so many relatable aspects and the author still made the book into such a fun rom-com, summer read and we got our happy ending. I had a blast with this one.

This was such a good read!!
Our main character Nina is such an interesting character to follow, It was so interesting to watch her grow and go from not believing in the paranormal to where she ended up. There was so much character growth in a bittersweet way, as well as a lot of self-discovery from her end.
Exploring her relationship with her mother was such a ride. I felt really bad for her, but was also very proud of her, and I loved where the author took that relationship.
The author did such a good job of creating such a good master manipulator in Leroy's character, and still made him lovable and charming. He is someone who was so mysterious to me, and I could not figure him out, and that was so fun to read. This was such a perfectly eerie, chilling and reflective read. Perfect for wintertime.
The twists were so well written and perfectly executed, the book reads like a show/movie, and I would love to see it adapted. I was so engrossed in the writing that I couldn't put it down and kept thinking about it.

This was such a fun and interesting read. I love reading horrors/thrillers but this was my first audiobook and the multiple narrators made the book soooo fun to read. It was such and immersive experience and it reads like a movie. I love that throughout the book we as readers are in the dark and we get to learn things along with the characters and know more because we are getting so many perspectives. The plot twists and the mystery is so good and I couldn't stop listening. I can't wait for this book to be on my shelf. The story, the character development, the narration, everything was so good!

My expectations for this one weren't super high when I requested it from NetGalley, in all honestly, I thought it was just going to be a fun time reading a rom-com sapphic book that'll make me laugh and then forget about in a few months.
Love in Focus did the exact opposite. This is a book that I won't forget anytime soon. Not after the tears I shed for Celeste and Gemma. Lyla Lee's writing is so fun and immersive that I just had to keep listening. Not only were you following Gemma through a breakup, you were also seeing how she has been affected by this long-term relationship, how she is processing the past relationships and her past self. Her growth is so well depicted and written that you can't help but smile at the outcome of her story.
Celeste to me is the perfect example of someone who processes emotions and goes through hardships, the exact opposite of how I process them. Her character showed so much strength and emotional maturity, and that's so beautiful to see. I saw parts of myself in both these characters, their struggles, their strengths and the way they cope and go through life are so relatable and realistic, it added so much more depth to the book.
This isn't only a love story, this book is about processing grief, change, loss of relationships, recovery, trying to find your place in this big world and being yourself with yourself before diving into a relationship. Self-discovery is such a big theme in the book, and could not have been portrayed better.
I would have wanted a bit more input from Celeste's side of everything, the shift in storytelling perspective really made her feel slightly detached and more distant than Gemma, but maybe that might have been the point. I will be carrying bits of Gemma and Celeste with me after this, individually and as a couple.
