The reason I rated this 3.5 is not because I didn't enjoy it, and I don't think enjoy is the best word to use here but I digress. I was very curious to learn about Charlie's life, how much she lost, how she's coping with those losses, and how she's learning to heal, grow and develop while she's in the Psych ward. Everything took a turn for the worse when she got out and I did not expect any of the things that continued to happen throughout the book.
You can so clearly see how having an unloving mother and a father who took his own life affects her relationships, interactions, self-image and behaviour
Did I develop a love for any of the characters? No, not really, were all the characters fleshed out, real and struggling with real-life problems? Yes, and that led me to want nothing but the best for many of them and wish all the worse for *cough* *cough* RILEY.

There is a lot to take from these characters, their struggles, the things they did because of the pain they were experiencing, in turn causing so much pain for the people around them. Do I wish for an alternative ending? Definitely not, the ending was soo perfectly tied up, that it felt like a weight got lifted from my shoulders after closing the book, and not because it was bad. I felt so heavy reading some of the parts that when there was happiness and relief felt by the characters near the end, that I also felt like I was there with them, feeling happy and angelic. I will never forget, nor forgive Riley, I've never read a character like him, and I've never had a stronger distaste towards a character like I do towards him. WOW, this was an experience.
