The only thing saving this book from getting a one star is the heroine, Kristin. She is witty, strong willed, and brave. She's the kind of woman I would like to see in these novels more often. The story unfortunately was pretty boring, predictable, unbelievable and the other characters were underdeveloped and flat and added very little to the story. This story got quite boring after the vikings were captured and I feel like there were many opportunities where it could have been spiced up with a little action. I usually enjoy Lindsey's books so I was really disappointed with this one.
I loved this book. I have never read a J.D. Robb book before, I started this one as a group read and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. The suspense and mystery really sucked you in right off the bat and being set in the future added to the intrigue. I loved both main characters and I look forward to reading the next books and seeing their characters develop more. I hope they involve the shrink in the next books as well because I think her character could really add to the books. I sincerely think anyone who likes murder mysteries with a bit of romance in them will love this book.
