It held my attention throughout the book. Found some parts to be unnecessary while some part should’ve been expanded on more.

This may be my favorite non-fiction book I have ever read. Everything about this book from Smith’s impeccable writing, the depiction of NYC during the 60/70’s to her incredible relationship with Robert. This book was emotional in the best ways possible.

I really enjoyed this book! It gave a lot of insight into the differences between being racist and anti-racist. I really enjoyed how the author tied in his own personal experiences with statistics and more information heavy parts of the book. It made it seem less daunting and made the story feel more human. I did find it getting a little repetitive in the last 1/4 of the book which is why I ranked it at 4 stars. Overall, I would recommend it to everyone to read!
