Jack (age 4) and I just finished two months of reading a chapter every night I did bedtime. This is still a classic tale even though the language is older and I definitely substituted some words here and there for a four year old. Can confirm "Charlotte died alone" still hurts. Also, we skipped the chapter where Fern essentially gets a psychiatric assessment because that seemed unnecessary 😅. It seems weird not to give a classic a five star rating but there are just a few things that didn't age well.

This was an absolute delight of a book from a Canadian author. I loved that it was a smart fantasy with a fairy tale twist and it took the story in unexpected directions. The academic aspect drew me in as well. This would be such a cozy winter read, I felt like I was immersed in the world. Emily Wilde is funny and brilliant in her weird way and I loved all the characters we got to know. This is going to be a top read for me this year for sure. I can't wait for the next book.

It's not often I find a FMC I absolutely cannot stand but Millie takes the cake. She's an emotionally stunted and selfish pick me girl who catfishes her best friend, gets jealous that he likes the girl she's catfishing him with and gaslights him into deciding it's okay and they should date. Oh and her widowed father has Parkinson's and she has left her 20-something year old little sister with twin babies to be his primary caregiver because she can't handle her emotions and never sought the boatload of therapy she so desperately needs. I know they tried to redeem her with a tiny pinch of character growth in the end, but it wasn't enough. I strongly disliked this whole book. 😅

This was a deliciously cozy and fun read with some of my favourite things: lovable characters and friendships, magic, spicy books and baked goods 😅. Very enjoyable from start to finish.

This was good. So much happened, so many POVs, twists and reveals that kept you completely hooked, medium spice and compelling world and history building.

Cute, but ultimately forgettable. I don't feel much of anything about any of the characters. An easy and cute read though.

The power control spicy thing is not my fave but I enjoyed the rest of the book and how all the characters are interconnected!

This was so good in graphic audio! The final swamp scene gave me chills!
