This book felt like such an accessible way of articulating how trauma affects our mental health and how we see reality. While I wish we would have been able to learn more about some of the supporting characters, the book is at its strongest when Enid is navigating the maze in her own head and I loved exploring her journey. It made me uncomfortable in the way that good books can challenge you.
You can tell how thoroughly and thoughtfully this book was put together by how concise yet vivid the descriptions of the movies are and the rationale for why they are included. I of course was surprised by some of the inclusions and omissions, but I really appreciated the approach the author took and all of the knowledge and context the book held about these incredible films, especially those I might never have otherwise come across. The illustrations are also incredibly beautiful.
