A weak collection of mid- to low-quality poems, marketed to people in dark places desperate for hopeful words.
You can’t just take a flowery, empty quote
And break
It up like this
And call it a poem.
There must be meaning.
Layers.
Deep thoughtfulness.

Some of the greatest dialogue/banter in all of literature. Not in a fine etymologically-layered way, like Kingkiller or Moby Dick. But in sensory diction and quick, abrasive cleverness. It’s so concentrated with sarcastic wit, it’s an entertaining exercise to catch even half of it.
And Abercrombie’s choice of words by SOUND to evoke visceral feelings is unmatched!!
*Example - “The battlefield horizon was a Crescent of Carnage.” ““How Could one expeCt to maintain Control of the Colossal Chaos spread before him?” <- you can feel that “C” alliteration so deep in your gut, it unsettles you and opens you to the horrors of the story.

Magical themes on the most-difficult lies about truth, and the deepest truths about lies. On the variety of life, the power of perspective, the nature of choice. Of growth, of change.

Stormlight seems to always find me at a time I’m broken, or perhaps the Universe breaks me before introducing these soul-expanding stories that fill those cracks with something better. Stories and journeys so powerful they encourage you to see anew, to learn, to change. The lessons, the philosophies, the adventures, the mysteries, the pain, the joy this offers. It offers Wind & Truth.

A collection of fantasy fables following the legendary “White Wolf” Witcher. These short stories illustrate the monstrous nature of men, confusing understandings of morality, and human complexity.
“The Voice of Reason” is a 10-min monologue masterpiece!!

It’s a special kind of torture listening to 300+ pages of the exact same sentence structure.

Ex. Groaning, I leave my scathing review of the novel, grinding my teeth into dust.

Very cool plot idea though!

A 400 page sci-fi poem on love, tragedy, and rebellion. Written with so much care and precision. Symbolism saturates each page, meaning marks each sentence. Parallels with real world events in deep layers.

“She has passion for ideas. I never have any extra passion for anything but her.” A deeply-feeling, haunting quote in the first few pages sets a theme throughout the journey.

And they complexly build worlds inspired from real-world mythology (Roman/Greek), call to quotes and imagery from other art. Stories within stories. It is so potent and layered and careful and BEAUTIFUL. “Don’t give yourselves to these unnatural men! They are machine men with machine minds and machine hearts… You are not machines! You have the love of humanity in your hearts!”

Break. The. Chains. ⛓️‍

A compassionate and evidence-heavy analysis on what happens to the brain when it is forced to prioritize survival. Explores various traumas (childhood, injury, isolation, injustice, and more) and how people may respond to them. A comforting, engaging, and informative blend of neuroscience and clinical descriptions with more relatable narratives.
