What a heartfelt book! I really enjoyed this cozy read. I even jotted down some of the more meaningful quotes. I enjoyed listening to all of the characters’ stories and their unplanned quests to living more meaningful lives. I took half a star off because at times I felt like the English translation was a bit clunky but otherwise so good!

I’m starstruck! At first, I found the story almost identical to Weir’s debut novel; but man, this one really took so many twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat! In fact, I actually prefer this book over “The Martian.” I removed a star because there was some blatant stereotyping of different cultures and you can definitely tell this was written by a white male. I also found the protagonist to be too smart based on his background - he was very very quick to solve every problem. However, despite these notes, I loved the themes of friendship and bravery which were the stars of this exciting read.

I love having this episode in book form! And it isn’t just a strict line by line from the episode either - there are some sweet treats in the form of extra notes and additional inner dialogue from characters.

4.5 but I’m going to round up to 5 stars because I was so delighted to find this little book so quippy and funny. I actually laughed out loud and I rarely do that reading. Well played, Goss, and a great compliment to an already engaging episode.

4.5 stars. Fantastic book and truly paved the way to make the “self-help” industry what it is today. This book is, in many ways, timeless. And if you read any non-fiction book in your lifetime, this should be on your short list.

4.5 stars - I could barely put this book down from beginning to end! This book was like a mix of Hunger Games and Willy Wonka added with tons of 80s video game and pop culture references. My mistake was watching the 2018 movie right after finishing the book. They changed so many plot points and I was very disappointed. Therefore, be warned: If you’re a big fan of the novel, don’t go into the movie expecting a completely faithful adaptation.

This is the most ridiculous book I’ve ever read… and I enjoyed every minute of it.

What an engaging, exciting prequel that I didn’t know I needed! Thank you Collins for this treat. I also absolutely love the contrast between Katniss Everdeen and Lucy Gray Baird. I highly recommend this book if you enjoyed the original series.

This book subverted all of my expectations. While I do believe the first 3/4 of the book could have been condensed, the last 1/4 had me on the edge of my seat.
