House of Hearts is an atmospheric and haunting tale that blends supernatural creepiness with heartfelt explorations of love and friendship. From the very beginning, the prose pulls readers into an immersive world that feels eerie and alive, setting the stage for a story that lingers long after you close the book.

The characters are a true highlight. Violet in particular stands out, but what makes the cast shine is how well-developed and multidimensional they all are. Their friendships add warmth and depth, grounding the darker, curse-driven elements of the story in genuine human connection. The plot is engaging and well-paced, managing to maintain a balance between creeping dread and emotional resonance. While the supernatural elements provide the chills, it’s the themes of platonic and romantic love that form the beating heart of the book.

House of Hearts carves out its own space as a standout supernatural curse story. It has just the right amount of creepiness without ever overwhelming the emotional core, with Arndt once again proving herself a queen of Horromance.

The Executioners Three is a fast-paced, atmospheric read that delivers exactly what it promises: a spooky, nostalgic, and wildly entertaining ride through a world that feels straight out of the 90s in the best possible way.

Dennard strikes a perfect tone throughout, balancing eerie suspense with a kind of throwback fun that makes the book hard to put down. The writing is immersive without being overwrought, pulling you into each scene with ease. The whole book is atmospheric, full of moody forests, flickering flashlights, and the creeping sense that something is watching from the shadows.

Freddie is a standout protagonist. She's sharp, layered, and easy to root for. I also loved the depth of the supporting cast. Each character brings something to the table, and their development gives the story emotional weight amidst all the action and twists (of which there are plenty!!!).

If you’re a fan of The Luminaries, you won’t be disappointed here. It’s spooky and just plain fun!

Lucky Day is a dark, absurd, and oddly hopeful ride through gory horror, filtered through Chuck Tingle’s  unique lens. While best known for his surreal erotic parodies, Tingle proves here that he can twist genre conventions into something both genuinely compelling and deeply weird in all the right ways.

The book’s tone walks a fine line between horror and humor. It's funny, yes, but the darkness is real and often unflinching. Each "LPE" (low probability event) bristles with tension, feeling like a Final Destination setup waiting to strike. That constant anticipation adds a delicious layer of dread, even as the absurdity keeps things unpredictable.

Vera, the protagonist, stands out as a surprisingly grounded anchor in the chaos. Her desire to disappear in the face of grief and trauma is painfully human, and her arc brings surprising emotional weight to the story. In a world where reality itself seems to twist, Vera’s quiet yearning felt authentic and relatable.

Highly recommended for those who like their horror a little off-kilter but not lacking in heart.
