*4.75 ish I liked it a little less then the first one, but it was still really good.👌🏻
As a white person who lives in the suburbs this book really made me realize how privileged and luck I am. The audiobook narrator was fantastic as well. It was honestly like watching a movie, every have different voices.
The concept for this book is very unique and original. The general story line was a little predictable and clique with the romance. It definitely didn’t measure up to Starbound, but overall I really liked it. And that was. . . an ending. Definitely going to read book 2. Maybe a 3.25
It took me a while to get into this book but one I did I was able to read it pretty fast. I enjoyed the last 100 pages and the ending the most. 3.5

This took me forever to finish, and I wasn’t entirely invested until the about 100 pages. I just could not get into it, even though I was enjoying the plot. Maybe the writing just wasn’t as good as Starbound. I sometimes got confused between points of views because they weren’t separate enough. I really did enjoy the way that it ended. It all wrapped up nicely. 3.5
I feel like I can’t give this book a fair review because I read it for school. All the annotations just kinda muddled everything I was reading. I did think the writing was good. Most of the book was just super confusing. I don’t really understand the purpose of this. I doesn’t really tell you anything that you don’t already know. Grendel isn’t redeemed for what he is doing in Beowulf, which I didn’t read but I know the story. I really didn’t get anything out of this but 170 pages of Grendel complaining about how unfair life is.
