I'd been in a reading slump for a good two months and holy hell this book dragged me out of it by my mf hair.

Roman Roman Roman, man just knows exactly what he's doing doesn't he?  I loved the way his personality was entirely split depending on the situation.  With Isabella he's this perfect golden retriever boy who's craved her love and affection from a very young age.  He's her feral puppet, the lengths he'd go to just in order to protect her from the smallest of things was adorable and hot at the same time.  Like, yes Roman, cut off his head for me.
He dedicated his life to her and even when the world pulled them apart Roman Riviera never stopped thinking about her and obsessing over her.

"Call us friends.  I dare you." - damn okay, make my stomach do that thing why don't you.

There were a few moments where I wanted to bash Roman and Bella's heads together because... JUST HAVE THAT FUCKING CONVERSATION?!  Sorry, breathing.  It got hectic and the book definitely took some turns that I wasn't expecting however everything worked itself out in the end.

This is the first book i've read of Avina's and I'm in love with her writing style, it's beautifully written and I felt all sorts of emotions while going through this book.

Would definitely recommend and I look forward to reading more of her books.

🧎🏻‍♀️ ARC REVIEW 🧎🏻‍♀️
I waited weeks and weeks to see this book in my inbox and it did not disappoint whatsoever.

Jesus lord and all things holy.  Well, this book was certainly not holy thats for sure.  I genuinely don't know where to start and i'm never normally lost for words.
First point: stop reading this review, go buy it (14th June 2024). Go buy it right now then come back and read this review.  You're too poor?  I didn't ask, take out a mf loan.  Anyway...

From the very beginning I was so incredibly invested in these characters:

Bexley =  I'll admit her thought processes pissed me off sometimes, however, in respect to her my head would also be doing backflips if I was dealing with two 'idgaf' biker men, how does someone even deal with that?  For the most part, she was feisty, she was strong, she was determined and she was the badass FMC that I've been needing.
Sayshen = WHO ARE YOU AND WHERE CAN I FIND YOU?  👏🏼The 👏🏼personality👏🏼 of 👏🏼this 👏🏼 man  👏🏼. HEAVEN SENT!  I wont lie he was beginning to give golden retriever vibes and I was lowkey digging it - i'm usually all for the bad boy, asshole but nice asshole type of MMC but hell would I eat this man tf up.
TALON = IF YOU PISS ME OFF ONE MORE TIME!  He was a dick to begin with but when we find out his reasoning for being a dick 🧎🏻‍♀️.   There are so many scenes I could waffle about, sweating I tell you!  Sweating!

All the characters were extremely loveable, even the side characters, I think I'm in love with like 6 people at this point.

The whole book was steemy, intense and I did read it in two sittings I was so addicted to not only the characters but also the plot.   However, the male main characters in this book are bikers and without saying too much the book does highlight the realities of being a racer.  I was feeling all sorts of emotions and they hit as hard as running into a brick wall, I cried, I laughed, I sweated and I definitely did some toe wiggles.

If you're a biker... let this be the book that welcomes you to booktok.  And if you're from booktok, allow me to introduce you to biketok.

Bringing these two communities together in a book is actually the magic I didn't know I needed in life.
Nova, may you get everything you wish for in life, you're amazing in every way humanly possible and I can't wait to see where you take the books that follow.  Thank you for allowing me to be part of your arc team for this full send, it's been wonderful.

If you've made it to the end of this review, do send me a friend request as I love connecting with people!

Did you read Haunting Adeline, Credence, Little Stranger and then sit back, question your morals and think... does it get darker?

If like me you are not proud of yourself for the books you indulge in and you really like to get into the deep end of things, I have found the book.

If you don't know A.A. Dark... this is your warning.  This is your author.

I found this book on TikTok a week or so ago and bought it instantly with a friend.  We started buddy reading and due to her work schedule she is on page 90 and I finished it last night.  Look, Zahra... as much as I wanted to wait for you, I could not put this book down.

It was fast paced 80% of the time however slowed to a medium pace 1/3 of the way through, I liked this about it though.  So much happened in the first 1/3 I needed a little bit of slow time to let things be explained, don't get me wrong my mind was still boggled for the majority of the book but that wasn't due to a confusing plot, it was simply the plot twists blowing my little mind.  The final third of the book picked back up into fast pace.

Everleigh (24690) our FMC is basically my spiritual character I'll admit.  At multiple points in the story we saw this strong minded girl bend against her morals just to get her closer to her end goal even if what she had to do made her physically unwell, she didn't give up trying, ever.

The two MMC's that this book gave a POV from had me SHOOK.  Seeing how two completely messed up male characters fall in love with the 'submissive' (the quotation marks will make sense once you've read it) slave she perceives herself to be.
Everleigh had a plan from the beginning and everyone was blind to her dark side, it was incredible how easily she pulled her manipulation towards hundreds of people.  She fooled the devil himself.

However, as determined and strong minded as she was, we have not seen this poor girl succeed.
And in all honesty, I was not reading this to see her succeed, I needed to know if she crawled out with her god damn life.

I believe this is a 13 book series, if my bank account wasn't down in the trenches I'd buy every single one right now.

If you do decided to begin the 24690 series, be careful.  In the paperback there is no given trigger warning list, simply because it contains ALL triggers and this is very clearly stated online.

it must also be known THIS IS NOT A DARK ROMANCE! This book is put into the genre 'PITCH BLACK'.  The genre has been created by A.A. Dark and is now used around the world.  For people that are unsure of the genre pitch black, it is essentially horror with extreme BDSM and romance ELEMENTS.  Let me repeat THIS IS NOT A DARK ROMANCE.

However, with all that being said, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.  I wanted dark, and I put my trust into the lovely A.A. Dark, and she did not disappoint.  It's dark, it's entirely f**ked up and had me shouting at the book more times than I can count.

I need to add the order in which to read this series as I've seen numerous people read it wrong and miss out books, so, pay attention...

The first series is the 24690 series:
- 24690
- White Out
- Welcome to Whitlock (27001, 27009, and 27011 are Welcome to Whitlock. They were made into 1 book so it'd be easier instead of having to buy 3 different books. If you're not able to buy them as 1 combined book, there are the 3 you need to buy to make the completed 'Welcome to Whitlock' book)
- Black Out

Then, the Anna Monroe and Boston Marks series:
- Never Far (Boston Marks Foundational story)
- Mad Girl (Anna Monroe's Foundational story)
- Master Mind (An Anna Monroe and Boston Marks Crossover)
- Heart Lines (Characters from 24690 appear in this book)
- Crossed Paths (Mentions of Garden of the Gods)

Garden of the Gods Novellas:
- Garden of the Gods Vol. 1 (5 novellas 24690's Main Master:  Bram's cousin is the Main Master here. His name is Elec.)
- Garden of the Gods Vol. 2 (5 novellas)

Individual:
- Red Island (24690 characters)

Individual:
- Seeking Stalker (AA Dark version-Garden of the Gods characters)

I'm contemplating putting the links to these books in my linktree in order in my instagram bio for people who struggle with this sort of thing as I'll admit it took me an hour to get the order 100% correct.

If you've read to the end of this review, I thank you for your time and wish you the best on your journey through Whitlock.  Please add me on instagram, if you're a bookish account I'd love to support you but also just get chatting about books.  Drop me a message and let me know how you found me, I'd love to know that people have found me through StoryGraph.

Oh also, the books get darker the deeper you get into the series... so keep that in mind.

A couple of my friends have read this and my step mum is familiar with the author so I thought I'd give it a go.
It wasn't a bad book as such however it is clear that it's a debut novel. The story line was definitely there and it really had potential I just wish it was executed better.

I'm not going to slater it too much because as someone who is writing their first book it's not easy and I completely understand that.  Everyone has their own writing styles which I respect, this writing style just wasn't for me.

Personally I felt the story could have been developed more, as I didn't really feel any sort of attachment to the characters.
It is a reverse harem so naturally it is complex to develop 3 in depth personalities for multiple men, however the FMC could have definitely been developed more as I didn't feel any sort of connection to her either.

I know there are more books to come in this series so hopefully these characters will be developed in the latter books.
Even though I didn't give this book the best rating I will read the next one as supporting rising authors is always good and I hope this review is seen as helpful feedback rather than a bad review.

If you like easy and fast reads this is defiantly a good one, especially if you're also wanting to get into dark romance this is probably a good place to start.

Ryat. Ryat, Ryat, Ryat. Sweet lord.
I’ve had the L.O.R.D.S. series on my tbr for a few months and the length of the books was what put me off. However the length of the book doesn’t matter when you read it in one sitting… yes.

The Ritual by Shantel Tessier follows Blakely and Ryat.
From the very beginning I fell in love with both characters, they’re brilliantly developed and i was rooting for her and Ryat.

Their situation is so unique i thoroughly enjoyed reading about not only their relationship but the process and rules of being a lord was interesting to read about too.

Matt is so incredibly hatable I actually wanted to rip his vocal cords out, well done Shantel for making him such an annoying character.

Writing this review I’m half way through The Sinner (the second book) and I’m also loving this book. It’s defiantly darker but still just as incredible.

Lordy lord. I love H.D.s books so I knew I was going to love this, I just didn’t realise how much.
Does It Hurt is a perfect enemies to lovers, forced proximity, betrayal… god it’s got it all.
The circumstances in which Enzo and Sawyer found themselves in are definitely less than ideal.

I enjoy going into books blind and I would 100% recommend going into this blind. That being said, the plot never stopped but the romance wasn’t shoved aside, it was the perfect combination of romance and storyline. Most definitely a psychological thriller and I haven’t really read any of that before but since this book I’ll definitely be reading more psychological thrillers and things like this, I absolutely loved it.

The characters were perfectly described they felt so so so real I can’t even comprehend it. Also…
Enzo forgiving Sawyer… what. a. Sceneeeee.

Everything about this book is just ugh, hard yes, loved it loved it loved it.

I- no I need a breather...
Aero mf westwood.  Brain chemistry altered.
I had this book on my TBR for probably all of 2 weeks.  It was recommended to me by a very trusted friend and I knew I had to get it, so I did, and it's one of the best choices I ever made.
The dominance, the submissiveness, the stalking, the 'religious' aspect, I.  ATE.  IT.  UP.

Briony and Aero are complete religious opposites to rest of the world, but mentally they're both the exact same and they know it, even if Briony refuses to believe it, Aero shows her who she is.

Aero being the big brute that he is but then having that soft spot for briny was beautiful especially because while he showed he cared about her, he didn't hold back at the same time.  Aeros mission throughout this book was to show her the strength and potential she had even if it meant hurting him in the process.

Briony starts off as a shy, religious young girl and throughout we are able to see her confidence begin to shine through while she takes control of her own life.

This book was truly amazing and I will be reading a lot more of Jescie Halls books in the future.

I-
Leigh Rivers…
I need to know what drug you injected into this book because… holy.

In all honesty, to begin with I didn’t think I’d like this book much, well… I knew I’d like it because it’s DR but I didn’t think i was going to love it quite this much.

But did I eat this book up and devour the absolute shit out of it? Yes, yes I did.
I licked the plate clean and ate the plate too.

Malachi is as confusing as he is charming, he’s protective over his Olivia and trusts her with his life which is truly beautiful to see from a boy who hasn’t been able to trust anyone for his whole life.

This book is short which makes it a fun, quick read and it’s also fast paced  which meant I never felt bored, I read this book in one sitting + 30 minutes or so in a coffee shop the next morning.

It’s definitely dark, like dark dark, it is a taboo DR so there are topics that some people may find disturbing or offensive so before you go into this book, please, check trigger warnings.

If you’ve been thinking of reading this all I can say is 100% do it. I was scared I wouldn’t like it and I loved it 😂.

However one small piece of advice if you do decide to read this, keep an eye out for the tarantula scene ;).

When I read Distance, and after I stopped crying, I picked detonate right up. Overall this was a good read, I liked both characters and they worked well together.

Maddie is a bold sassy woman with a VERY opinionated mum who wants her to find "the perfect man" for her.  If I was to give a message to mummy dearest, Grayson is not the night in shining armour and more the morally grey villain that catches Maddie off guard and swoops her up off her feet

Grayson, the ex-military man, boxer during the day and mafia hitman at night is definitely not who Maddie thought she would have ended up with.  Her mum kept her in a house of chains her whole love life AND WHEN GRAYSON STOOD UP TO HER oh boy I think I died laughing, if theres one scene I remember vividly its most definitely that bitch slap (verbal bitch slap that is).

The plot was flowing and had good tension however I feel like it could have been developed a little more.  How do I word this, there was a plot that ran throughout, but no real main plot.  I mean I read this a little while ago and I can remember the key elements and they do make sense but I couldn't tell you what the point of it was in a way.  Don't get me wrong it was brilliant all the way through but it was lacking the crack that was injected into the first one.

I do have all 4 beneath the mask books on my shelf and while this book was a good mafia dark romance it didn't standout against the rest of the dark romance world.  That being said, while this book wasn't my favourite; it wont stop me reading Devoted and Detained as I know Luna is a truly amazing author.  Also cant wait to read Chaos and caged.

Overall would recommend.
