Did not finish book.
Couldn’t really get into the writing, and the story seemed very strange that it felt like a second book even it was a first book. Thee wasn’t any explanation on the world and we just had to rely on the character POV to get any kind of world building.

I was disappointed with the ending. I was kind of expecting some big climax, but it ended anticlimactically for me. It felt rushed in how it was just a big 'climatic' battle with red mother and then everything is back to normal now.

This was pretty intense, and I love it. I'm so glad that she is finally meeting the red mother officially and not just their accomplice. I can't wait to see how all this ends.

Wow, I love this short brief entry into Genya's life and how living at the grand palace has affected her in how she wanted to be Grisha. This has definitely made Genya one of my favorite characters, and I can't wait to see what she has in store in the later books.

This book was a roller coaster of emotions, and I really liked it. I didn't expect that this book would be as good as it is. I absolutely love that wounded girl Genya and completely her struggle being a pawn to both the royal court as the Darkling. As far as Alina herself, I thought she was a fine main character, she wasn't my favorite, but she was one that made sense for the story. The one thing that I didn't really get was the romance that tried to pose as a love triangle when it was pretty clear she wanted to be with her best friend only. It clearly showed the relationship between Alina and the darling as a sign of manipulation from him, especially when Genya and his mother had told her to be careful around him. The relationship between Mal and Alina seems bland, mainly because there isn't really a lot of information of why they would be friends besides childhood; it made sense that they would be together. I loved the world-building within the story it was pretty compelling and easy to understand. The one thing that I didn't really get the mention of Zoya. It just looked like Leigh Bardugo just used her as a plot device for both Mal and Alina to forward the plot. Overall, this was a pretty good start to the series.

Wow, this issue was pretty cool. This was definitely an improvement from the last one. It seems kind of slow. I like how gotten more information on what was going on with Natalia, friends trying to save her, and the people that are keeping her captive. I can't wait for the next issue.

I really like this issue a lot. This definitely developed the character in a way that I didn’t expect her to have a simple life, but it was very compelling. I can’t wait for the next issue.

This was ok. We finally get an interaction with the 'red mother' after just seeing them for the past couple of issues, but it was a little convenient that after the interaction that thing turned out to be just fine.

This issue was pretty interesting. I like how it took a fresh approach in the setting and having it set somewhere other than New York. It definitely added some atmosphere to the already mysterious black widow. I feel we had gotten a little more insight on what happened after she had gotten tranquilized in the beginning before the flash-forward, but an overall impressive start to the series.
