This is basically AoT but instead of being in a legionnaire we're investigators solving the most uncanny murders with an even more exceptional head detective.

What I like the most from this book are:
- The plant-based world building elements (yes we have titans and 3 WALLS sounds familiar right, I know), but aside from that we have a contagion grass, tree, worms, fernpaper, moss?!!  Love it. So unique and refreshing seeing it well written and delivered.
- the SFF aspect. The peoples' ability.... The change to go through... Their characteristics.... Love it.
- the characters. Din and Ana banters!!!
- the layered plot and plot twists. For a murder mystery, some of them are predictable but still very enjoyable. This book is being easy on readers, don't worry. It's complex but not so bcs we'll make sure to explain and summarise it for u. The plot twists are just keep happening till the very last page. Wait for it.
- the hints are actually clear from the beginning~

All and all very enjoyable. Highly recommended πŸ‘ŒπŸΎπŸ‘ŒπŸΎπŸ‘ŒπŸΎ

Can't wait to dive it the sequel, A Drop of Corruption

Tapi bener2 indah penulisannya πŸ₯² I hope my Indonesian translation does it justice. Dan semoga temen2 jadi lebih banyak yg mau amplifying Falastin voice and againts complicity. Yuk sama2 kita berusaha untuk ga support apapun yg punya keterlibatan mendukung gen*sida di Palestina. Please do kindly remind me juga ya if I missed atau gatau atau ga update.

Ilustrasinya bagus-bagus. Kombinasi warna oke bgt.

The first book I finished in 2025 left me devastated (affectionate)

Dearest Madam S. K. Ali, with all due respects, YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN. Yes, please write more sff!!! The potential is there and it's well executed πŸ‘ŒπŸΎ

The idea about toppling down tyrannical government, bodily autonomy, free will, freedom in general, and how the faults is in the system was well delivered.

I love the characters development
(Raisa, especially!!! And I'm down bad for Musaid and Nayf corruption arc. You can never make me love Lein, tho.)
. Loving how their train of thought differentiate how they will take actions. Characters with personality and SHORT CHAPTERS never goes wrong.

The world building is... probably is a bit hard to get into but once you do, it's not very hard to follow.

The story revolved around an abduction of the daughter from the Upper Earth's council member daughter, Raisa, who is about to be married with the son of Lower Earth's leader, Lein. This marriage will also seal the agreement in which people of the lower earth will be "knitted" and "scalplinked" in the name of civilization and modernization. The Enlightenment from the Upper Earth. The scalplink is able to control one's mind. Thus, the erasure of free will, free mind. Of course there is a rebellion organisation that opposed this agenda, that leads to the abduction. Turned out, it revealed more intricts, plays, hidden agendas, questioning trust and demand huge amount of sacrifices.

As a sci-fi debut, the story was great. It's hard but also gentle in it's writing. It doesn't shy away from the shitocery of the world. How it reflects what we're going through in reality.

The plot is neatly written, meanwhile, with that many characters and their alias, and who their fledge for, it might be hard to comprehend as a whole and borderline all over the place. For me personally, I enjoy this so much. But I can see how it may be a problem for some people.

However, it's been a long while I've read a good dystopian book!!! This is such a fresh air amidst the usual fantasy I'm reading. Love it!

If you're into a book about resistance, "the necessity of violence", revolution, freedom, political and kingdom intricts, laced with immersive world building and its unique invention, give this book a go!!!

I don't get it.
This isn't the book for me. Definitely a me problem bcs I think I'm too stupid to comprehend the stories πŸ₯²

Beda kyk Tiga Dalam Kayu, in the end aku "nangkep" garis besarnya apa dan ceritanya ada garis merahnya. Kalo ini I feel like the story stood on its own dan emg ga nyambung satu sama lain. Tiap selesai baca 1 cerpen ini maksudnya apa ya 😭😭😭 NOT TO MENTION THE GORE AND TRIGGER WARNING YAAllah. Bikin langsung kepikiran and ended up not enjoying it to the fullest....

The last to stories, Kelana and Kambing, are sooooooo (merinding)

At this point it feels excruciating to finish the book :(

Sebenernya dulu pernah ikut diskusi buku ini sama Kak Ziggy online. Seru bgt sebenarnya diskusinya. Walaupun udah dispoiler beberapa ternyata pas baca langsung TETEP BINGUNG 😭😭😭 wkwkwk tapi inget si dulu Pingu pernah bilang, gausah dipikir berat. Enjoy aja. Soalnya banyak pertanyaan kita yng sebenernya ga sedalem itu maknanya. We tend to overcomplicated things WKWK LOL😭😭😭

I'm glad I did.

Tanpa Rencana was a rollercoaster read. Kadang dibikin pilu, kadang heartwarming, kadang ngekek, pokoknya campur aduk. It speaks a lot more vulnerability side that what I've ever read. Bukunya jujur blak-blakan bgt. Tapi cerpen2nya aku suka!!!! Mostly berakhir heartwarming πŸ₯Ί Adam Garam ngasih sensasi penasaran dan lega, Temu bikin hati nyaman bgt walaupun penuh perjuangan, Tentang Jakarta juga sangat sangat relatable. Apalagi diakhiri dengan TAI πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ‘πŸΎπŸ‘πŸΎπŸ‘πŸΎ (pun intended)

Talking about the Supernova Lounge.... PLEASE DONT PLAY WITH MY FEELINGS
Suka bgt bgt bgt I didn't expect it to be out that way😭 I literally screamed wtf was that (affectionate)

It felt very personal and touching. I might not in her shoes, but I can feel it.

All and all, buku ini kurekomendasikan untuk dibaca.

Cocok dibaca kalo kamu suka kumpulan cerita pendek, abstrak, diary-like writing.

Dear Ibu Suri kesayangan kita semua, you will always be loved by me 🫢🏾

Enemies to lovers done right. Loving the banter so much. The spice was spicing hottttt

The plot is thoroughly written. Thought it would be a no brainer book, but this book caught me offguard bcs there are some deep reasons and background the characters are going through.

Loving the side characters, too. Alba Jamie and a whole lot of Andrien family.

The only let down is there are so many unnecessarily repetitive sentences.

If you're into contemporary romance that is sexy, deep connection, he fell first, and billionaire romance in good hands, give it a go✨

The audiobook made it so much better!!! The voice changing at the end is super creepy. I kinda expected the kuntilanak laugh, but it's not happening lol

The story revolves around family at its core (typical Hanna Alkaf 🩷) the writing is good and entertaining. The horror is on with a twist πŸ‘πŸΎ

It's short and enjoyable. Might read another installment of the book series.

Surprisingly, I don't despise this despite what everyone's saying in the review~ (yes, I'm keeping my expectations low) but I guess I get it (and understand why it's not everyone's cup of tea). It's supposed to be flawed and pretentious and not satisfactory flashy. And it's ok for me! I love author's words vomit wkwkwk. The narrators delivered as usual✨

My very first Indonesian romantasy book!!!! And it's actually well written and very enjoyable. Idc what you're thinking about Wattpad author, but this one is good.

The story followed a family of Indonesian shaman, dukun supernatural, who acts as protectors from darkness. They resided in secluded, sacred, and hidden Griya Inggil. The brothers, an alternate universe of Pandawa brothers, Yudhistira, Bima and Arjuna were assigned to keep their supernatural power strong while working among the society.

Now, our main character, Arjuna, decided that he had enough of supernatural world and made his way out of the house to become a professional archer. Unfortunately, you couldn't escape destiny that easily.

Arjuna and Aura are childhood friends before Aura had to move out of the Griya Inggil. Arjuna and Aura made promises to be together forever using the magical red string bracelet. (Why is this sounds cheesy πŸ˜πŸ˜‚)

Now, here comes the villain, Aura's own cousin. Ken Mahisa never knew love. He was a sacrifice after all. But Aura's existence in his life might save him from unavoidable terrible destiny.

My two cents:
- ARJUNA JAMET. You can't convince me otherwise.
- Yudhistira and Bima is giving Nanami and Toji vibes iykykπŸ‘€
- Despite everything, Aura is loveable.
- You can't convince me to like Ken Mahisa ever:))) even without the "monster" he consciously crossing the border of sexual harassment:))) giving in even he knew the consequence. But if you're into morally grey villain who had no choice but a merely victim, he's the one.

What I like:
- Core ceritanya sebagai Karma. Kun fayakun.
- IT HAS LOTS OF CONCERN ABOUT ENVIRONMENT!!!!! +++++POINTS
- Writing style-nya. Ngalir, with appropriate amount of humor. Jadinya lucu.
- World building-nya juga oke. Atmospheric I can see the action folding out clearly.
- The romance. It got me giggling at some parts (walaupun ada cringe2nya juga wkwkwk issokey. Again who doesn't get cringey love at 16).
- The lore is loring.
- It actually has everything a YA has. Far too young characters shouldering the end of the world. The parents not parenting. One true love mengalahkan segalanya. Which I don't mind at all and enjoy reading them in novel supernatural bahasa Indonesia.

What I think could be better written:
- The inappropriate amount of innuendoes borderline sexist (?) but probably that's how 16yos act??? I'm not going to be a moral police, tapi I think untuk age rating 13+ kyknya terlalu dewasa. I means there are MANY KISSES. And the way Aura forgave the SA she received as if it's not affecting her... Bagian akhir2 itu ngeri bgt loh....(Ken deserved the punches tbh) The way it didn't get addressed properly in a book aimed for teenagers I think is not wise. Atau age ratingnya bisa dinaikin siii. Atau umur karakternya bisa yg lebih dewasa (?) bcs till the end of the book...
- Ini tuh masuknya smut bukan sih bukunya???
- The ending was a bit anticlimax. I want power and action from Aura. Kyk gampang banget.

Other than that, I have no complaints.

If you enjoy YA ROMANTASY, ala kearifan lokal dan budaya Jawa yang kenthel, gas baca buku ini!!!!

I highlighted so many lines karena emg quotable juga isi2 bukunyaaa. Don't miss it. It's criminally underrated smh

All Water Has Perfect Memory by Nada Samih-Rotondo

I didn't expect to find a new favourite memoir this late in December. I read this for Read Palestine Week and it was the rightest choice. I love how this book written since the very first few chapter πŸ₯Ίβœ¨

All Water has Perfect Memory is about three generations of Palestinian family through its maternal line. It showed the struggle of the first Nakba, being a refugee, and a woman at the same time. It dwells deep into how generational trauma never really leave, and how it shaped a person building a family.

This memoir written in the exact amount of poetic phrase. It was sooo soooo beautiful. I love how the author put trivias and analogy at the start of every chapter. Be it etymology of certain words and fun factors on a certain place or wonders.

This book took a darker turn for the later half. The life Nada going through is not easy. It revolved around family issues and turning upside down for a long lost familial line.

If you're into carefully crafted, beautifully written memoir, would love to understand more and amplify Palestinian voice, this is the perfect choice. Give it a go!!!
