idk if i just didn’t get it but this felt unnecessarily misogynistic?? like despite it simply being from the perspective of a (kinda?) misogynist, there was no condemnation of his acts and they felt brushed off like a “oh well that’s just quirky old barry” which i was not a fan of. further on this, not a single female character felt as fleshed out or important as any of the men, and it felt almost like they were the butt of every joke. the story was moving and interesting, but cannot get higher than a 2 from me for these reasons :/

idk if i just interpreted all of this wrong or if i’m a pretentious asshole but this book was awful to the point of almost being slander. i’ll just say it, why was she so horny? why did she assume her mother enjoyed being raped? i’m so sorry to tituba that this book was ever written, u deserved so much better girl.

yeah yeah yeah i love him and he’s just like me and whatever, just wasnt too fun to read simply due to it being a diary that doesn’t feel like others were meant to experience.
