i loveeee the premise!! right up my alley

spots were poorly translated so it seemed awkwardly worded and there was a lot of repetition

i definitely got teary eyed at the married couple’s and the sister’s story

would probably read the next one

The cheating made this disgusting. Steph is a bad person and so is Aria. Poor poor Lisa. Also why were the banging right after Joan had a stroke. I have no sympathy for Aria.

The first half of this book was great. I loved the descriptive words and I really felt like I was right there with Aria in the Californian heat. Plus I’ve never craved In-N-Out more. I admire Lo for her ability to create such vivid worlds with her words.

The second half, on the other hand, felt sloppy. It lost the charm that the first half had, which might have had to deal with the plot becoming solely
affair
centered. Less imagery, a lack of emotion with
Joan’s death
, and wayyyy too much horniness at the wrong moments.

It was nice to catch up with Lily and Kath. I would have rather had a short story centered around them though. This was the only redeeming quality of the second half.

Great collection of Emily’s work!! I do wish that there was more commentary on the poems. I would love to read thorough breakdowns of each of these letter-poems. Very insightful into Emily’s relationship with Susan and it introduced me into some new favorites.
