Once again my Queen is here to serve us only the best. I always tell myself I'll stop buying into the faerie hype after the ACoTaR wave hit but every time Rebecca whips us up another batch, I am here to lick the crumbs clean.

Then again I suppose Rebecca will always be my exception, I just so happen to love her writing so much. When others start to see it too I need it to be known I was here first. It was me. Hello, I've been screaming from the rooftops about my Queen all year now I'm glad you've caught up.

Now that I've raved about Rebecca enough let's start with the fact that this is such an imaginative take on a well known and beloved story. It's easy to make smut when dealing with the fae and my queen does it flawlessly.

Our character development never takes a backseat to the sweet heat, however, and I love the unique dynamics between our two ships. There was nothing that could have been better. No comment I could give even resembling criticism save for the fact it could have been three times as long and I would have still ate every bit. Perfect holiday reading.

** spoiler free review below **

As an alpha reader for this novella my opinions are all my own and have not been swayed by the author in any way, shape, or form.

Sometimes the smut is the plot. Sometimes a writer is so good at what they do you find a novel that perfectly blends both. And sometimes, once in a blue moon, you find a writer that's so damn great at storytelling you find both plot and smut wrapped up in a neat, organized little package we so lovingly call a novella.

I love the pacing of this, first and foremost, because I've found that a lot of novellas in the romance genre lead up to one (sometimes mediocre) spicy scene amidst a bunch of forced drama dressed up as plot.

This was insta-lust, with a heavy dose of insta-love, and I am trash for a guy with obsessive tendencies. Another one of my favorite things about Everett, our MMC, is the fact that even though he's not afraid to get a little rough with our FMC, Sierra, he's also extremely sweet and isn't at all afraid to show his soft side. He's so attentive throughout the whole night you can't blame our girl for going there with a guy she's only just met.

I also have to take a moment to fawn over Kenna's descriptive abilities because they are absolutely fantastic. Not only are the spicy scenes (literally) panty dropping but she has the innate ability to paint a story with words. Writing is a balance between showing and telling a story and Kenna has a great formula going so far.

All in all this was a tasty little treat that certainly satisfied my need for Halloween all year round, complete with the smut sisters' happily ever after guarantee, I cannot wait to see what Kenna serves us up next.

When it comes to the omegaverse I get really picky. I haven't found many authors or series in that genre that I truly enjoy. This book, however? This. Damn. Book? Blew me completely away.

I'd previously read one of Devyn's works, Point of No Return, so I thought I knew what I was getting into and it ended up far, far better than I had allowed myself to imagine for fear of disappointment. I'm the opposite of disappointed right now. And I'm so deeply sad that this is just a standalone. I'm gonna need more from Devyn in the omegaverse. I'm gonna need a lot more.

As it is, this book has everything you want, and instead of the emotional conflicts feeling contrived and forced, they were grounded in a reality that flowed with the utmost ease.

If you want something to sink your teeth into that'll make you feel, make you want a scent-sympathetic alpha, and carry you away from your life for a little while-- this is the one. By far one of my favorite omegaverse novels to date.
