not gonna be a favorite but well executed!! im glad that paolini is finally able to write what he has longed to do for so long and to immediately start with a space opera is a huge genre debut for him.

so beautiful! samantha shannon demonstrates once again that you can write high fantasy with many intriguing characters that are not fueled by hate and anger but instead are kind and respectful of eachother while also writing a world that is harsh and sometimes cruel but always kept in balance by beauty and harmony. she also proves how effortlessly one can write queer and bipoc people into a fantasy world in which their sexuality, gender expression or skin colour is not used as trauma porn or to furthen the plot by hurting them and instead creates tension and emotional circumstances that are almost exclusivly born out of love and respect for one anther. george r r martin could never. also, theres dragons!!!
