I just did not have the attention span required for all the world building and politics. What I did read was quite good and I will try to read this another time. Being a mood reader makes reading large, richly plotted books hit or miss.

I just really love T. Kingfisher's writing. She keeps things moving along at a decent pace. She does enough detailing where you almost find yourself bored but then hits you with plot twists and action. I was not expecting the content in the end, and I was pleasantly surprised that this wasn't just another haunted house story.

This book had SO MUCH potential.

The flip flopping between multiple POV's was a bit confusing as it was more than 3. I definitely wanted more information on the magic system, I had many questions throughout the book. I am kind of eager to read the next one just to see what the author does with it.

I don't love the actions of the author RE: Using Brionna Taylor's death as a marketing ploy.
That being said, I felt I needed to finish this book. It was fine. The last 1/4 of the book did play on my emotions. I was mostly annoyed throughout the book..

that Nesta was as miserable as she was. Yes I know she went through traumatic experiences, however I just found her incredibly insufferable, even when she went through her "redemption arc"
