This book was fine. It served its purpose of a nice, easy audio book to pass a boring day at work entering data! Nothing special to write home about.

I feel like this was 2 separate books. The 1st half was a struggle to get through, going to be perfectly honest-I skimmed most of the 1st 50% and really just read the dialog portions. Then the last 50% was absolutely perfect! Hence, the 4 stars because the last half saved the whole book for me. There was just too much self discussion and repeating of the same thoughts/points. It felt like filler. Also, I truly despise the miscommunication trope. Nate is such a great MMC, and he saved the book for me. I did enjoy the book overall and will definitely read the next one.

I was really looking forward to this book, like one of my most anticipated new releases, and overall, I was underwhelmed. It ultimately ended great, and I was able to be engaged in the book, but it took 51% of boredom to get there! The characters were great, and the plot was also very solid, but the execution was very disjointed and too wordy; sometimes, less really is more. I'm not sure that I'll even read book 3 when it comes out based on this installment

Wow! What an insane true story. 42 year old french woman, Caroline, finds out her father has been chemically restraining her mother, herself and her sister in laws for his own sexual prolicquivitty for decades! A true story written by Caroline herself. French to English translation.

Stephen King really is a mastermind. The  steady and sure unfurling of this story is really well done. I really enjoyed this story and found myself wanting to know the outcome with also not wanting it to end. If you are a fan of Mr King and classic fairy tale stories, I reccomend it.

I have to keep remembering that all of these books start slow and build to absolute fantasy perfection. A great end to Keris and Zarrah's duology. I love the interweaving of Aren and Lara into this story. I am looking forward to set #3 of this series when book 6 is finally released.

Wowza! I delayed reading this because I really loved Lara and Aren's books and just didn't want to learn new characters.  Then, when I did start it, it was slow and relatively boring, and I had many thoughts of DNFing...so glad I stuck with it. It all started getting good around page 150ish....and OMG the absolute brilliance of this writing and storytelling. The political scheming and tragic love story is truly top-notch. I can't wait to dive into book 4!

There is something to be said for a more simple fantasy when the plot is unique and engaging with well developed characters. This little book scratched an itch for me. It was an easy read, I was entertained and not overwhelmed by the length of the book. I enjoyed the clear world building that wasnt too dense but also not elementary in skill. I did not see the plot twist at the end AT ALL!

An ARC read for me, and I was pleasantly surprised! Very well developed writing, and it definitely pulled me in and held my attention.  I would have loved to give 5 stars, but the ending was totally predictable to me. Historical fiction part of the story was truly perfection, but the thriller part was lacking. To be fair, Im an extremely harsh critic of thriller/mystery genre... I want to be SHOCKED, and very rarely does that ever happen. Overall, it was a really good read and I would recommend it.
