I struggled rating this one because it really pissed me off but listen.. it kept my attention and although it was slightly predictable, the end definitely twisted me up. I felt all the emotions and wanted to keep reading. To me, that’s a five star read.

I actually really loved this. It seemed kind a cheesy at first and I wasn’t super fond of the writing style but I LOVE the characters. At times the plot was a little predictable and felt rushed in some parts but it made for a quick read that still got you submersed in the story. This is not an extremely detailed romantasy with in depth world building but it was such a feel good fantasy book, honestly exactly what I needed to get me excited about reading again since I’ve been in a slump. Highly recommend.

DNF @ 47%: I so badly wanted to love this series, the covers are beautiful and I even bought every book before I started reading because I thought I would really like it. However, it’s mid March and I’ve finished one book this year (the first book in this series) because I’m just not feeling it. It put me in the worst book slump I’ve ever been in, I haven’t even had interest in reading anything else because of it. I kept trying to push through because I thought maybe once I read more I’d connect, especially because I seem to care more for some of the other sisters than I do Lily & Lo. But it hasn’t happened so I’m just cutting my losses with this series. I feel like maybe if you’re 18-23 you may enjoy this more but it is just lacking a lot of plot and depth for me.

I really wasn’t sure how this was going to go for me. I started this book at the beginning of the year.. it took me almost two months to finish. I can’t tell if it’s because I’m just going through a tough reading phase or if the book had more to do with it. In the end, I ended up finally connecting to the characters about 80% of the way in, thankfully, considering I already own the rest of the series.

It is about what everyone says it’s about: addiction. The MMC is an alcoholic and the FMC is a sex addict. I feel like sex addiction isn’t as understood, it definitely isn’t for me, and so I’ve really struggled to connect with her and understand her struggle. But I do feel like I gained so much more empathy towards the end of this book. It still is an uncomfortable topic for me, and I just don’t fully get it. But the book was written well and I’m curious to check out the next book.

I think I’ve established that I’m just not a Sally Rooney fan, as much as I really wanted to be. 😕 This book is okay, as in the idea is good, but it’s lacking all emotion. The main characters are so nonchalant and monotone which translates in the whole feel of the story. I’m bored and I can’t do it. DNF @58%

This is easily one of the most unique story lines I’ve read in a long time. It also completely drew me in. There were a couple things that seemed a little unrealistic to me, and it was enough to have me surprised about where the story was headed, which is really the only thing keeping this from a 5 star rating. Very intriguing with lots of one-liners that get you thinking. I loved it.

Something about the writing style was off for me, I can’t quite put my finger on exactly what. It took me a bit to get invested, probably about 40% of the way in, but I was still enjoying it and by 60% I was into it. It seemed like it was meant to be a slow burn but the slow burn was over too quick, in my opinion. There were also quite a few things that were either unrealistic or I would’ve personally worked differently had I written it. I enjoyed the story and the relationship dynamic was cute and I ended up loving Indy & West as characters.

Okay, I struggled with the rating on this because it really was a dumpster fire. It was so chaotic, completely unhinged, and truthfully so unrealistic and also kind of cringy sometimes. But it was also so fucking hilarious and well written and I ate this shit up. Like I could’ve read it straight through if I had the time. Y’all don’t need me to go into detail about the details because that’s literally what the synopsis is for and it’s pretty on point so if that sounds good to you, read it. Just be prepared for moments of: super cringe, what the fuck’s, and laughs!
