Religionless Christianity: Dietrich Bonhoeffer in Troubled Times

Jeffrey C. Pugh

DID NOT FINISH: 56%

This book feels dated in the face of the current regime, but perhaps it's just not for me. Pugh's scholarship on Bonhoeffer is excellent, but I don't feel as though he goes far enough in his examination of political violence. Perhaps I'm missing out by not finishing it, or maybe he's evolved in his thinking, but he seems overly dedicated to a privileged, nonviolent position I don't think he justifies well.

The Cost of Discipleship

Dietrich Bonhoeffer

DID NOT FINISH: 18%

I'll come back at some point, but it really is his most conservative book, and it gets rather uncomfortable at points. I get the historical context, but it's easy to see why Bonhoeffer is easily exploited by the Christian right.

Le Guin has yet to disappoint me, and this book certainly did not. Such an easy but also excellent read.
