one of the best books i’ve read this year. i was so in love with the story telling, the characters and the way they loved each other, how the world around them impacted each of them so differently. such a wonderful and fully immersive read

okay so, in terms of romantasy genre books this one is rly good to me. the story was interesting, the plot had no obvious holes or inconsistencies and the romance was really cute. all in all, it nothing too crazy but i did stay up all night to finish it 🫣

“this was the stuff their dreams were made of. on the day that Estha was Returned. Chalk. Blackboards. Proper Punishments.
they didn’t ask to let off lightly. they only asked for punishments that fitted their crimes. not ones that came like cupboards with built-in bedrooms. not ones you spent your whole life in, wandering through its maze of shelves” 😞

this was a very challenging read…like
literally darksided. i enjoyed the non linear narrative because in this case, it added to the confusion and blurriness that comes from retelling your childhood memories as an adult. can’t say i liked any of the characters but i don’t think we were meant to

“Nearly every guy I’ve dated believed they should already be famous, believed that greatness was their destiny and they were already behind schedule…Now I understand it’s how boys are raised to think, how they are lured into adulthood. I’ve met ambitious women, driven women, but no woman has ever told me that greatness was her destiny.”

oh wow i needed to read this book. i loved going through casey’s struggles with grief, her paralyzing love for writing, her relationship with Men omg like she was so messy and relatable and lovable to me !!! this is for all the girls who grew up reading books underneath their desks in class, dreaming of writing a novel one day no matter how laughable it felt in the moment <3
