Wholesome & very quick read - it was all a bit fast paced for me, but also a welcome change in what I read usually.

It was nice reading something from the Omegaverse for once- I need to get into it more often.
Other than that I enjoyed the characters and the POV change. It’s always nice to hear both mc’s thoughts.
It was a solid book with a very predictable plot and no surprises at all, which is why I gave it 3 stars. Enjoyable read nevertheless.

It is what it is. YA.
YA proves to be not for me..
I mean - don't get me wrong - it wasn't a bad book.

When something is broken, you can put it back together. It may not fit quite the same, or work like it did once before, but that doesn't mean it's no longer useful.

A home isn't always the house we live in. It's also the people we choose to surround ourselves with.
felt like they were really meant for kids reader. Besides the fact, that one child is the literal anti-christ, is not one thing in this book that actually makes it YA. If that one child from the orphanage wouldn't have been there, this book would be a childrens book. I mean .. the head of the the department is called "extremely upper management"..
Besides that, I actually kinda enjoyed the book. The children in the orphanage were written very cute. Linus' character developement was wholesome and the found family trope is always something I'm up for. I'm hoping, that the next book might contain more adult / adultish content and I'll be more into it.

Well. What can I say?
This just wasn’t for me. Don’t get me wrong- the lesbian romance was great. I loved the casual hookups because of bloodlust between them- but it was just too much. The writing gave me wattpad flashbacks- the anaphors were just annoying to read. The ending was okay- I’m just annoyed with Octavia. If Red & her end up together in the next book / in the end, I will go back to here and rate it one star. Red deserves so much better. Octavia is just ignoring all her wishes. Also the shady grey zone between consensual and non-consensual. Does bloodlust really count as consensual? I don’t know. It also wouldn’t be okay to have sex with someone totally drunk. And isn’t that basically the same?
I don’t know if I’ll be reading the next one, but this just wasn’t my cup of tea…

I really can’t help myself. For some unknown reason I actually like this lovey-dovey romance novel series😄
Penelope’s & Colin’s story were the ones I was most excited for and Julia Quinn didn’t disappoint!
-1 star for Colin’s bit annoying character trait of not being able to admit things for a long while

I’m so glad I picked up another Ali Hazelwood book even tho I gave the last two such bad reviews..
I do not regret that decision at all.
Bride was a wild ride. If this book would turn out to be a 6 book series I wouldn’t be mad at all! I need more of Lowe & Misery!
The only reason for -1 star is because I really wanted there to be more.. the ending felt a bit too rushed.

As someone who is absolutely obsessed with lists, tables or anything summary related, I can confidently say, that this book is a dream come true!
I love that every character has its own character description and all the important ones have even longer explanations as well as a "their story so far". What was also great were all the exclusive content chapters: Emil's letter, Netta's note, Keiran's interview etc. It added so much depth to all the characters!
I'm happy that there are additional scenes in there as well as diary entries from Miss Willa herself. Miss Willa is a bit creepier now tho - I mean yes, it does make sense since she was the one who literally wrote a sex journal - but for me she was still the oldest council member, meaning in my head she's like this wise, all-knowing, introverted seer being. Now I feel like I can't take her serious anymore.. But maybe that will change with the next books.
I'm so glad the entire history and how everything connects together was explained again because this way I will only have to reread those parts in Visions instead of rereading all the books from the beginning when a new one comes out!
Overall: I'm super happy this exists and I only wish it would've come out at the end of all the books and not in the middle.

“Elspeth says if you do not get up, she’ll never kiss you again.” “That’s—not—what she—said.”
In the review to the first book I said "Overall it had to little world building for my taste. So far it’s really just two villages, a castle and some mist. Also I believe the characters deserve some more depth and attributes to make them more likeable.". Thinking back about the review I have to say that the world building in this book was better. The world itself was still small which is fine, but we finally got more backstory to the history of the cards and the Shepherd king itself.
What was weird to me, was that Elspeth was basically not the MC anymore. She could've just easily not been there. It wouldn't have made a big difference. I've never seen this done before where the main character changes with the sequel. This would've been the death of the book, if the other characters weren't so likable. I know now why I wasn't so into Ravyn & Elsbeth didn't grab my attention in the first book. Because they purposefully didn't get any depth to them so that the reader would also like the new main characters in the second book. And boy, did I like them.
"I’d be your King, but always your servant. Never your keeper.”
“You don’t think I noticed you, Ione?”
“The way you’re looking at me, terrifies me.” “Why? Did no one ever love you before, Elm?” “Not like this. There’s never been anything like this.”
Also. Elm is gonna be added to the book boyfriend list! The way he talks about their love and how he loves her:
“A hundred years,” he said to her, as if she were the only one in the room. “I’ll love you for a hundred years—and an eternity after.”
I really enjoyed this book. I am glad its a duology and the writing is beautiful. Even tho many things were predictable in my opinion -if one paid attention to the riddles- it was still a wonderful change to all the other books I usually read.
