Loving a Fairy Godmother by Danielle Monsch
4.0
Danielle Monsch's imaginative tale of love and romance between a Fairy Godmother and the only Fairy Godfather has the perfect mixture of fairy tale, fantasy and a steamy romance. I was fascinated by the creative twist on fairy tale, which points out some of the human sides of the stories that get ignored or glossed over in children's versions; the issues of sex, physical attraction, and whether or not happily ever after can be had without something more than true love. I grew to love the relationship between the main characters, Tiernan and Reina, although I admit to an initial frustration that at first the attraction seemed only based on physical qualities. I yearned for some interaction between them that showed a love for something beyond the physical, especially as thirty years (in fairy land) have passed from Tiernan's initial wish to become a Fairy Godfather to this part of the story. I wanted more back story or more explanation of the tension before the move to steamy romance. Still I loved the story and the interaction between their story and that of Cinderella, whose Happily Ever After only comes when she accepts herself as a being able to give and receive love. An excellent read for anyone who loves a little fantasy and magic mixed with their romance.
