I'll Have What He's Having by Adib Khorram is a sweet and steamy queer Own Voices romance. I loved that Farzan and David are older characters because it showed in the conversations they had about their futures (both individually and together as a couple). It's always great to see queer interracial relationships where both people in the couple are non-white.
The exploration of family and culture through food and customs is beautiful and the writing is very easy to get lost in. I loved their dynamic! Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Ms. V's Hot Girl Summer by A.H. Cunningham delivers exactly what the title suggests! Trinidad and Orlando's physical chemistry sizzles off the page, and it's almost enough to forget their age gap. A.H. crafts both characters in a very realistic way. This is proudly an Own Voices story. The descriptions of the freedom that carnival brings can't be overstated. Feteing with a partner is the kind of fun that everyone should experience once in their lifetime.
As much as I love their chemistry, I wasn't completely sold on their romance lasting past their whirlwind weekend. Overall, I still recommend this, especially with the Caribbean and Latinx representation!
Thank you to Harlequin - Romance/Afterglow Books by Harlequin for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Frenemies with Benefits by Synithia Williams is a very cute small-town Black romance. Synithia created a refreshing group of supportive friends and I found myself rooting for Tracey and her bed-and-breakfast! Although Brian and Tracey started on shaky footing, they both had understandable romantic reservations. It made their romance worth rooting for. It isn't a requirement to read the other books in the Peachtree Cove series, I still recommend it. Thank you to Netgalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing/Canary Street Press for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
