Stolen Focus: Why You Can't Pay Attention—and How to Think Deeply Again by Johann Hari

I really enjoyed this. I was well researched and Hari was quick to admit the things he didn't have answers to and to warn us when the science doesn't back something or when there are things scientists disagree on.

I thought it was very interesting and informative on why humans attention span seems to be shrinking lately and the ways we can start to combat that.

This was an interesting read for me. I went into it expecting a self help memoir but I think it reads more like a memoir with a message than true self help. I enjoyed it though I do think it had some parts that were a bit meandering. Overall, I enjoyed it. I really love May's writing style in it.

I think if I'd read this a couple years ago I might have liked it more. But it didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know. Also it was very repetitive. For 6 hour long audiobook, I felt like each hour said the same exact thing just a different way.

This set of poems was okay. I marked a few I really liked but overall I found a lot of the themes repetitive and not well delved into.

Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat: Mastering the Elements of Good Cooking by Samin Nosrat

informative slow-paced

4.5

Overall, I feel I learned a lot about cooking! I liked the friendly way Nosrat writes and for the most part her explanations were easy to follow. BUT, I do think she got a bit overly wordy at parts. I also think some of the illustrations aren't as good at demonstrating things as she hopes. Some are definitely more confusing then helpful (re: chopping onions especially). So I can't in good conscious give it a 5.
