Definitely a “take what resonates and leave what doesn’t” type of read. I agree with not making assumptions and trying my best, but I think that the first two agreements threw me. I’ve been working on not taking things personally so often, but I also think there’s a time and place to stand up for yourself. And the not gossiping thing feels similarly extreme—and idk maybe too simplistic? It feels like the book wants you to hold everyone at arm’s length while also asking you to forgive everyone again and again. I guess people should be forgiven. This just feels extreme to me

Hmmm I didn’t love this as much as I thought I was going to...I kept waiting for a moment where I was going to be GAGGED but it never came.
Also like there was so much unanswered....because Leewood was definitely a child predator, so Grant never learned other things that potentially happened to Lucy? I really thought I was going to be gagged at the end too like I thought while Grant was dealing with the cops Sophie was going to kill her friends or something idk I was expecting more at the end.

It’s been A MINUTE since I’ve read a rom-com type of book. This was a really good and easy read! I related to both Emma and Maddy a lot. Plus, I’m a midwestern gal and I loved the talk about MN and WI and Culver’s 🤤 There were some moments in the book that felt very dated to 2024 which is really fair, it’s just something that I notice a lot when I read contemporary books. I will read more from this author!
