When I tell you this book absolutely obliterated me. It ripped me to SHREDS. John Green does it again. I feel like you here this a lot when people rate his books but I can't be said enough: He doesn't treat his teenage characters like they are 10. When writing YA books, authors tend to get the idea that you have to "write simply" because "teenage brains can't comprehend hard topics". This is absolute BS. John Green see's that too and makes heavier writing and acknowledges that teenagers are constantly focusing are the hard, dark, deep parts of life. He understands that we shouldn't be treated like kids, but as adults. JG treats his teenage characters with the same exact mindset. Tasking them through hard to understand topics, so his readers can relate. This book lives so deeply in my heart. All I can say is read it. Give it a shot. If your coming from the "Fault in Our Stars" side of JG, maybe this isn't the exact book for you. Make sure to check TW going into this book. Beautifully written. 5/5 on the tear scale. 5/5 writing 4/5 characters. All in all, for me this is a six star read.
Okay... don't yell at me for rating this three stars. Don't get me wrong, I feel in love with the characters and the plot and I am BEYOND excited to read book two but I had a deal breaker.
THE ENDING WAS TOO ARRUPT! I get that this was a short-er book so obviously the end had to come at some point but I just feel like it was really rushed. Other than that I am SOOO excited to see this series expand and fall more in love with the characters.

“Your soul is my favorite in this entire world.”
This book. I’m punching walls because it was so good. The writing of this book in a nutshell would be how I would right a book and I LOVED it. Like no words.
The romance: beautiful. Would I die for Nathan if he was real? Absolutely, he must be protected at all costs. If you are a fan of The Upside of Falling, let’s just say Brett compared to Nathan is like comparing a little kid to Henry Cavill. I loved both Nathan (obviously) and Bree so much it’s unhealthy. I’m writing this review maybe a day or two after i have finished this book and words can’t describe how much I wish that book would have never ended. Also.. THE DUAL POV. To die for.
I loved the loyalty between Nathan and Bree and the level of trust they had. The romance throughout the entire book had be smiling and giggling like crazy. I think what made it so amazing was seeing (small spoiler) Nathan just try so hard to get out of the friend zone. I also loved how much the author made him respect Bree’s boundaries. And BONUS: NO MISCOMMUNICATION!!!
I think another part that made me really connect with this book was (sorry another small spoiler,) Nathan and his panic attacks. The “tightening in (his) chest” and everything surrounding his anxiety and all the weight and expectations put on top of him hit home.
Overall? 10/5. Characters: 7/5. Tearjerker Scale? 5/5. Writing: 5/5. Quite frankly would die for this book. HIGHLY recommend.
