Ancient Shores by Jack McDevitt

I think I liked this. The beginning was kind of difficult for me to get through. I also didn't like how many characters were being introduced but once I realized that they were to show how people different than the protagonist were being affected by what was discovered, I liked that aspect. The language is easy enough (did not care when the author was going wild about the planes but whatever) and the plot is interesting. I don't care for the cameos at the end whatsoever, thought it was corny and unnecessary. The ending with the protagonists was good.

Originally started with the show but I wasn't hooked and never finished it. The comic, or at least those collected in this compendium, was very fun to read through. Big fan. Will continue this series.

Hm. I almost quit reading this at the 16% mark because I was not vibing with it for the most part. I forced myself to keep going and was pleased with the rest of it. The haunted house, the supernatural, the fungi-controlled ants, and the parasites. I liked the relationship between the protagonist and each family member, even the one she was beefing with. The writing was alright, not really for me.

Read this for an irl book club, first meeting on the first half, second meeting on the second half. I had a good time with this book. I'm not sure what I thought this book was going to be like but the first half was not that. I still enjoyed it but the second half was where my interest was primarily peaked. I understand the important of the epigrams that Lord Henry is always spouting out but I was exhausted of them by the end of the book. The story itself was interesting, the characters were interesting. Thought I would like this book more than I actually did.

Oh yeah, this one has hooked me in a way the previous novel, My Brilliant Friend, did not. I was actively searching for a break in my schedule to have time to get back to this story. I feel close to the characters, Elena, Lila, Stefano, Ada, Nino, most of the main character; I care about what happens to them.

I enjoyed this for the most part. I liked the story we were following along and, in retrospect, I did enjoy part three, where we follow an eleven year old runaway Bob in an almost deserted town where he meets two older thespians who sort of take him in. Prefered the second part where we watch Bob, Connie (his only love interest), and Ethan (his best and only friend); that’s where my attention was held the most.

There is not a single thing I don't like about this book. The characters, the plot, the writing style, the repeating structure of Gilda's thoughts, and the ending.

Love this duology. I remember feeling so good after reading the first one, really loved the protagonist and the story. I appreciate its sequel just as much. Felt familiar but didn't feel redundant, even with its similar plot elements. I do think that I am biased slightly because of how much I loved the first, but whatever. Big fan.

Really enjoyed listening to this. I am a big fan of Britney, I have been for a while and I really liked learning about her life through her eyes rather than through the media. Michelle Williams is fantastic. Love you girlie <3

Really enjoyed this. Liked both of the perspectives we followed; both characters interesting. The plot was good and almost makes me interested in reading more westerns but I don't really like a revenge storyline so... I probably won't read others (but who knows!).
