A small little vignette of a book.  Beautifully written but it just didn't stick with me.  I wanted Marta to stay / come back and she never did.

This wasn't as good as I wanted it to be.  I did enjoy the vibe of "Fuck Mr. Darcy" though!

This book is a lot.  Funny, emotional, perverse, raw.  Rarely has an acknowledgement page hit me so hard.

Funniest line: "Moby-Dick... was ableist... to Captain Ahab?"

Most emotional line: "What they repeated, oddly enough and over and over, was that she had done a good job."

I very much enjoyed this book, I like his writing, I like tennis, I like his writing about tennis (and math), if you also like DFW and/or tennis, you will like this book.

Bumped up from 3 for the last 50 pages.  This book is very long and interesting and it drags at times and at times I didn't care about it but overall it makes you think a lot, about languages and colonialism and what it means to be "in."  It wasn't quite as enchanting as I hoped it would be but it gave me a lot to think about.

This wasn't as compelling as previous volumes.  The first 1/3 is boring, middle 1/3 disturbing, last 1/3 actually enjoyable.

This book is lovely, very different experiencing reading it now vs when I was 16.  I found the end very hopeful, which I don't remember feeling before.  The depressive scenes are quite harrowing but overall this book made me feel better.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 43%.
Just got pretty bored with it, as soon as they first kissed I realized I don't care and she's kind of annoying.

I liked this book until it became obvious that she was going to get her "happy ending" and I would no longer have anything in common with her.  The first half was quite relevant and touching.

I got this in a blind date box.  This is the first "thriller" I've read in a decade and I enjoyed it!  Young adult so not too scary but there were some plot twists I didn't see coming and I didn't figure out the ending and I liked that.  MC is super dumb and annoying but he's a 17 year old boy so I guess it's allowed?  Makes me want to read some more thrillers!
