The Fire Is Upon Us: James Baldwin, William F. Buckley Jr., and the Debate Over Race in America by Nicholas Buccola
medium-paced
5.0
A powerful and extremely topical book. I recommend the audiobook because, not only is the narrator amazing, but it includes original audio from the Buckley Vs Baldwin debate in Cambridge.

If you'd have told me I would love a book with the miscommunication trope, I would have laughed. Even if you explained that it was wrapped up in fake dating (my favourite trope). But Abby Jimenez strikes again! I love that this series focuses on women in their late 30s with lots of realistic relationship trauma.

It was really entertaining, but the ending of some of the stories were really disappointing.
The Night Ends with Fire by K.X. Song

A fun and fast New Adult fantasy. The characters are pretty obvious, but I have hope the series might become more complex.
Halo-Halo: A poetic mix of culture, history, identity, revelation, and revolution by Justine Ramos

I'm so glad this book exists.
Les grandes poétesses du Vietnam by Trần Cứu Chấn

Décevant, surtout à cause du langage archaïque des années 50 à propos des femmes de la féminité.
Some of Us Just Fall: On Nature and Not Getting Better by Polly Atkin

A contemplative memoir about chronic illness that is a welcome break from mainstream “cure” and “overcoming” narratives. My favourite chapters were ‘Chronic’ and ‘Pacing’.
