Then We Came to the End by Joshua Ferris
3.0
It took a while for me to care about the characters, and the "we" perspective seemed kind of gimmicky, especially at the very end, but, overall, it was pretty entertaining.
Yeah, you have to struggle through the broad, jumping charicatures of the first half of the book, but the second half is actually engaging and rewarding. I'm not sure whether it was because the chronology calmed down or because the characters finally became people and not just names, but it eventually worked.

Between the Bridge and the River by Craig Ferguson

Hilarious and sometimes moving, often at the same time. Ferguson is definitely an author, not just an entertainer trying to be one.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling

Took me years, but I finally read it. It was pretty good.
