I was really hoping to enjoy this more than I did. It feel kinda flat for me. I think from the start it was very obvious to me that Weston was Corrick, and it confused me and felt so sudden when him and Tessa kissed so early on. Like a build up of tension when she found out he was Weston to then learning that they aren’t so different would have been soooo good! But the tension for me wasn’t really there The story had a really interesting premise, I just couldn’t help, but feel like there could have been more? Certain things seemed very obvious to me and not in a way that made me happy as the reader to figure out, more in a way that made me sad it was that easy to figure out? Maybe this book just wasn’t for me, or maybe I’ve been reading toooo much to the point I know basic book structure now? Either way it was good, I might read again in the future to see if my opinion changes.

That was such an amazing book! The way the world was created was so beautifully done. I felt everyone of Vis’s emotions. The story progression was done perfectly to set up plot points. The foreshadowing to even simple things throughout the story like the three fold apology was perfect! I really enjoyed the first POV, and I’m so excited to see how the second book in the series will pan out after that ending! I’ve got so many questions! This was such a good book ahhhhhh! I want to read it all again right now!
I overall enjoyed the story. At times I was confused, the ending leaves me wanting a bit more information about what’s going to happen with these characters now. The beginning of the book feels like a completely different story to the end of the book. The main character has really bad headaches, but that kinda gets forgotten? It could have worked it’s way into the plot really well though. Sydney kinda just disappeared after her important moments. Like we don’t even know if she got told everything that happened with the experiments and what she did I really enjoyed the premise, I think it could have just been a little tighter overall

I loved this book so much!! The only reason I’m giving it a 4.5 and not a 5 is because I think a few things could have been put together a little better. But the ending was amazing, it felt that maybe a few moments maybe had to get cut from the books? No resolution for certain characters, but hopefully we’ll get to see them again in a possibly future novella? Either way loved it!

My jaw will not close! The way Stephanie Garber can create such a magical and fantastical world that has me enthralled to the very end is truly a gift! I am screaming about this ending holy shit! Jaw on the floor! As an unrelated note the song Carve a Smile by Shayfer James is Jacks’s theme song and no one can change my mind ahhhhhhhh

The therapy aspects within this book were done every well, I think anyone going through something similar as Persephone then reading those words would feel seen and heard.

A rich fantastical world that is built upon as you read each chapter and discover more with each new character. This is such a unique way to write a book and share diverse perspectives and experiences! All of these authors did such an amazing job and creating a beautifully lush magic system and magical world full of creatures, to world building, making me want more information as I get to each new character! The mystery of this book was very good (I’m proud cause I kinda guessed it) the ending of the mystery fell kind of flat for me only because it’s hard to wrap up a mystery where you don’t have a focus on a main character. Hense why I gave 4.5 stars. But overall this book is wonderfully beautiful!

Maybe this book just wasn’t for me… I could see it being a story about life and death, but the amount of paragraphs I read where by the end I was overall confused with what I had just read is too many to count. It’s a beautiful story, maybe one that I’d have to read again to fully grasp. I did not think there had to be that much to do with sex? It just seemed like it didn’t really fit into the plot for me? But maybe I miss understood the reasoning Mrs. Dingles has my heart though.

I haven’t had a book in a while that made me actively scream at the characters, cringe, feel second hand embarrassment and cry and to say the least it was wonderful!! The twists and turns within the last 10 chapters is something I never would have expected, I knew shit was about to go down, but not in the way it did!! I loved this book!
