I enjoyed it a lot.
The only reason this isn’t a 4.5 or 5 stars is because I needed less sex.
From the first chapter Violets sister is just like “have sex you never know when you’re going to die” and because of that it takes away from a lot of the moments that are trying to foreshadow to future parts of the plot.
Violet when going across the walkway (I don’t even wanna spell it) was rambling away at history knowledge to calm her nerves. Yet when they’re fighting the venin, the folklore she’s read about over and over again in a book she’s seemed to have studied like the back of her hand. She can’t seem to remember anything about them? I would have thought she’d be rambling about it all while on her dragons back

But minus all that, it was a really good story. About pushing yourself to beat all odds and believing in yourself. I enjoyed the dragons the most I think, I have such specific voices in my head for them!

IM SOBBING!!!!!
To have his biggest fear be to die and his mama forgetting him. To then him becoming the god of the forest, and erasing her memories of him so she can go on a live a life untethered to him 😭😭😭

This book was a beautiful story. It tackles themes of corruption in society, grief and acceptance of yourself all within a thrilling and spooky horror book.
This was such an amazing read, and the writing was wonderful!

I think this book was marketed wrong…
This is not a thriller? I was expecting spooky time, but was met with character having logical reasoning to get out of the spookyness.
If this was marketed as a mystery with sci-fi elements I think that would have worked a lot better?
I’m left with a lot of questions, but that could be due to me speed reading at the end.
I still enjoyed the book, but I was left with a meh taste afterwards. I don’t feel like I ever truly get to know these characters, they each just have quirks to them and there were moments that were trying to dig deeper into emotional connections between the characters, but were cut short by random apologies?
I don’t really know. It was good, just wish it was sold to me in a different way than it was.

I primarily read fantasy books with a sprinkle of other genres here and there. For someone who could be trying to get into the horror genre I think this book was a perfect way to easy your way into that since it has a lot of fantastical elements!
This was a perfect amount of creepy, fantasy and mystery all weaves together!
The long chapters at times did hurt my short chapter loving soul, but it worked in such a good way for the way this story was told!

I really enjoyed this book a lot.
The dual pov added a lot to the story overall.
The only reason I didn’t give this a full five stars is because the story starts out with a focus of one main plot and then kinda guides slowly into a different focus. Which isn’t entirely bad, I just wish certain aspects were more focused on and cleared up surrounding certain family dynamics.
The ending felt a little set out of place from the entire story, but it still worked within it. I think it was a good conclusion, maybe I just wanted a little more wrap up.

I love this series so much!!! The amount of little forshadowy bits throughout this volume is insane!!
After I read the chapters I got back and watch the corresponding episodes of the show to help me better digest the information 😂
I can’t wait to start volume 5!

I was really hoping to enjoy this more than I did. It feel kinda flat for me.
I think from the start it was very obvious to me that Weston was Corrick, and it confused me and felt so sudden when him and Tessa kissed so early on. Like a build up of tension when she found out he was Weston to then learning that they aren’t so different would have been soooo good! But the tension for me wasn’t really there

The story had a really interesting premise, I just couldn’t help, but feel like there could have been more? Certain things seemed very obvious to me and not in a way that made me happy as the reader to figure out, more in a way that made me sad it was that easy to figure out?
Maybe this book just wasn’t for me, or maybe I’ve been reading toooo much to the point I know basic book structure now?
Either way it was good, I might read again in the future to see if my opinion changes.

That was such an amazing book!
The way the world was created was so beautifully done. I felt everyone of Vis’s emotions.
The story progression was done perfectly to set up plot points. The foreshadowing to even simple things throughout the story like the three fold apology was perfect!
I really enjoyed the first POV, and I’m so excited to see how the second book in the series will pan out after that ending!
I’ve got so many questions!
This was such a good book ahhhhhh! I want to read it all again right now!
