A short read depicting unrequited love or is it? An inevitable ending or something else altogether?

I have always loved the questions Sally Rooney's writing poses.

Serial killers that kill serial killers!
Two murderers play a game to see who can solve a serial killer case first.

The guts and gore were extra descriptive and just what I wanted. Lots of twists and turns. I liked that the book didn't spend its entire plot on one murder and spanned across multiple cases and years.

Emily is back, and she is on a mission to find a door!

I liked the first book more, but this one still had the wit and lightheartedness I enjoyed from the first book.

The philosophical musings of a madman have never been more exciting than now. Everyone is on edge and having an existential crisis as their powers shift and change.

This book puts the many questions of the world, existence, and purpose into words. I found it fascinating to see through these different characters, as they were all asking the same questions, albeit differently and not all at the same time. With such different upbringings and thought processes, the choices made could not have been any but this. I love the complexities of human beings and their behavior.

One of the most wanted witches and a witch hunter, what could go wrong?

UGH. The tension, the banter, the suspense. I was on the edge of my seat.

A son, a mother, and a father. A world of misunderstandings, unspoken words, and swords.

A sheltered town that is steeped in the words of the Empire that has not kept up with modernization with the rest of the world. Ignorant to the changing tides, closed off to the world, loyal to the end.

I cannot stop thinking about this book.

If you had the opportunity to have the entire world at your fingertips, would you take it no matter the costs?

This is a captivating take on the lost Alexandrian Library and the secret society in charge of protecting these archives for the wealth and power of knowledge.

Each character is so different, and it is a wonder how they are forced to coincide with only one thing in common - the archives.
