This is the author’s first adult fiction book and it shows. Characters so flat they were practically 2D, unbelievable amount of “tell, don’t show.” She stated the obvious so much I almost felt insulted. Like, of course I figured that out. The ending wasn’t satisfying at all -
her baby is just a normal baby! Psych!
like ok? We really took 400 pages to build up to that? Very disappointing. Pregnancy horror is a niche genre that I love and this was terrible. I see a lot of reviews that say the AHS season “didn’t do the book justice” which must mean it’s god awful.

Reading this helped me grieve my father even though he hasn’t died yet. Gut-wrenching poetry.

Stop with the surgery metaphors. They don’t work. Wholly unrealistic but a fun read.
