Loved the movie, have watched it quite a few times. Finally read the book and WOW. Couldn't put it down. Truly a thriller. All the charm and humour that I loved in the movie, was all there in the book. Loved every goddamn page.

This book was a really unique experience. At the start it feels quite light and then the author guides you through the more difficult moments with such care. You end with a real sense of strength and hope and love for the author's Country and family. I've never read anything quite like it. Truly beautiful.

Seminal text. So so dense - it needed to be for its time, since it was so revolutionary. But today it makes for slow reading. Hits you over the head with just how much proof Said can find to illustrate Orientalism. Fantastic work

1 star for creativity I guess... Very assimilationist ideology and didn't enjoy the wishy washy, repetitive descriptions.
