I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.
As anyone following me knows, I seriously disliked this book. Part of it was probably because it's too old for me (if that makes sense). Another part was story itself. And another was the writing style.
Seeing as I'm still a teenager, I couldn't relate at all to the hardships the characters faced as adults, which is probably why I found the story to be painfully boring. I didn't think it was very interesting, and the characters bothered me for the most part (I started liking Topaz and Naomi when they grew some balls and stood up for themselves)
Onto the writing style. It really annoyed me. There were commas where commas shouldn't be, and no commas where the should be. I don't like the way Marquette worded everything. To me, it just didn't flow. I especially disliked how, when someone was think about something, they would pause, say "Yes," then continue their thought. (I didn't explain that very well, but if you read the book, you'll know what I mean)
Despite all of that, there are some things I liked about Rebuke. I really enjoyed the last few chapters. They were sweet and touching, and I almost cried (almost).
As I said above, I liked Topaz and Naomi after they grew a pair. Topaz doing everything her father told her to without question was annoying. And Naomi in her ghost like state just pissed me off.
Rant/review is finished. And I think it's safe to say my followers/friends are happy I'm finally finished this book, so they don't have to put up with me complaining anymore..
