I. loathe. Dickens. I cannot state this with enough emphasis. His prose drags you on and is so convoluted and boring, his plots are dull and twists (despite the name) are nonexistent. To be honest- not far from simply being boring.

I adore Atwood, so believe me, it truly pains me to write this. But this just… wasn’t that good? To me it read in a far less fascinating and sophisticated manner than Atwood’s usual work. Forgive me if I’ve missed a point here, but I just think this fell flat to me. The poems seemed to almost lack soul and feeling.

this book was ok and not much else- it’s atrociously quotable but it seems like the quotes were made up for instagram and the text was built around them.

seems quite pretentious to me! also some really outdated views which is disappointing due to the recent publication date. however, it’s a humorous exploration of language and would be great for a beginner or someone wanting to get more into language. despite this, there are other books i’d reccomend before this one.
