I went into this book knowing only the basic premise, and I came out loving this book! It’s very well researched and has a engaging and defined writing style, especially considering it’s a debut novel. Although the start was quite slow and took a while for me to be hooked, I managed to read from page 150 to the end in the space of a few hours! The characters were well built and seemed to have their own unique personalities and motivations, and I truly enjoyed reading Susannah’s story. Although some scenes were a bit clunky, they kept my attention well enough and the book seemed to flow much better in the second half. The last few chapters are truly unputdownable! Some scenes were a bit on the gory side, but that’s to be expected when reading a book about Jack the Ripper. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that knows the basics of the Jack the Ripper murders and is looking for a thrilling read and isn’t put off by a slower paced beginning!
