Across the Universe by Beth Revis

Although the beginning was fairly slow, at about the 1/3 mark, the book picked up quickly, and unravelled into a unique plot and a gripping storyline. Revis delivers an enjoyable science-fiction novel to young adult readers who otherwise may not read sci-fi, and also hinders at a romance between the two main characters, without turning the novel into a romance novel, as such.

The character who's point of view the story is told in alternates every chapter between the two main characters, Amy and Elder, which is a refreshingly different way of telling a story.

Personally, I didn't really feel as attached to either of the main characters as I usually like to be in novels. I'm not sure whether that was just me, or whether it was a writing issue though.
Overall, it was a good novel. I'd recommend it; it's a fairly easy read, can be read by itself (it's the first of a series) and offers a different storyline to so many other young adult books that have been released recently.
