Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
Fourth Wing had me with mixed feelings.
On the one hand, I actually genuinely loved the story line. The world building around the dragons and having each chapter start with a quote from an in-world book was a nice touch, especially since it also foreshadowed what would occur is said chapter as well. The lore behind the dragons and Navarre was really cool, too. The story actually left me interested and on the edge of my seat. The dragons were the main reason I really was so invested.
On the other hand, I found Violet impossibly annoying at times. Like I really needed her to shut up sometimes. I got fed up with her constantly and certain things she focused on annoyed me. While I did like herromance with Xaden, the writing made me uncomfortable. I ESPECIALLY hated the VERY VERY detailed sex scene between her Xaden. Like I did not need to know all that! Thank you very much. Also, Dain pissed me off so bad. I actually hate him and he was so annoying like he also needed to shut up. I desperately wish Violet would get over herself.
I have to say, the story had a predictable sort of formula to it, but I was still invested. The ending was so good.
