honestly pretty good for a school book! I loved the writing but the characters were all either pretty dislikable or bland besides miranda and clark. the world building was so cool to read. I haven’t read that many post-apocalyptic things, but the ones I have read haven’t really expanded on the process of the apocalypse itself and the minutiae of how society collapses and how it is or isn’t rebuilt. so. this was pretty cool.

the end felt a little rushed though for me. the reveals for the motifs of the paperweight, station eleven comics, tanya, etc felt almost hastily lumped together at the end and it took away from the effect it could’ve had. also!! personally I wanted more of an epilogue than the epilogue I got. it just felt too short for all the build-up that was done. I wanted to get a glimpse of what the more advanced towns were like, or maybe see how the airport or some other communities get more advanced. more closure like that.

other than that it was pretty good. once again I would like to mention the writing. man the writing in this is genuinely SO GOOD. would I recommend this book? probably. would I read it again? no. apocalypse because of flu just hits too close to home. thanks to my english teacher but also no thanks, I’m glad this is done
