Light and easy read. Reads a bit too simplistic. Brings up a lot of big ideas but does not examine the nuances of any of them. Liberal fantasy writing.

God, Murakami really can't write women. This is the last time I'm giving him a shot. Some of the prose was well-written but definitely not worth the weird sex.

The bits with the cats were nice. Would be nice to have just that half of the book without the whiny protagonist.
