This book was really boring until about halfway, when they started having sex. Then it was gross.

And after that, I really enjoyed it. I liked the quality of the feeling described of being young and drunk and on a night out that feels magical. I liked the quality of wistfulness at the end.

But the first half of the book and the gross sex descriptions really took up too much of the book.

It's cheesy, it's saccharine, it's cute. I thought it was going to be "just" an easy read but found myself crying at a fair few parts. Themes of sacrifice always get to me.

I found the main character of the book so insufferable for the first two thirds of the book that I nearly put it down. Neaarrly. But she really redeems herself in the last part of the book, and I felt like the writing got a lot better towards the end as well.

Succinct and engaging, a great starter for those beginning to immerse themselves into gender questioning.

I read this book pretty much immediately I saw Alok live at a comedy show. The show was one of the best I've ever seen, if you get a chance to see them perform, definitely go! This book is an adequate facsimile of how they deliver information on stage.

Fast paced plot twists had me literally gasping out loud! This book covers so much ground, and I wish I'd read earlier in my life when I dated white men!

Exceptional. The prose is lyrical. The structure is innovative. I loved the second person Gothic horror style.

My heart ached all over the memoir.

I enjoyed the first part of the book more than I did the latter. I was often confused and found myself failing to care about the characters and their motivations towards the end. Pacing could do with a bit of work in the last third of the book.

Very little happens. I found all the characters insufferable.

Was a bit more gory than I expected. Enjoyed the intensity and suspense though!
