I really enjoyed this book! I went back and forth so many times about who the "villain" was, and I was surprised many times by unveiled secrets.
This book could have been faster-paced to keep me on my toes more but overall, it was a good read! I will say the first few hours were on the faster side and it had me hungrily listening any chance I got but I felt like towards the middle it slowed it's pace a bit.
The book did have some nods to paranormal activity and *woo woo* things but I felt like it fit just fine in this book! If you're someone who rolls your eyes at that kind of thing then this book may not be for you.
Wow! I loved this book! I easily could have devoured it in one sitting but my job and son took too much of my time! But even when I was away from the book, I always thought about it!
If you believe and appreciate things like "fate" and "divine intervention," this book is 100% for you!!
Not only that, it was a suspenseful mystery that kept me guessing and feverishly flipping through the pages. I became so invested in a few of the characters in this book and I found myself angry, sad, happy, scared, and more for them. (P.S. if you've read this and want to talk crap about a few of the characters, reach out! I am LIVID with a few of them and their actions!!)
I honestly can't believe this is one Melanie's first few books. The writing was engaging and entertaining with magic that was felt through the pages.
As an avid thriller reader it takes a lot to surprise me and keep my heart pounding throughout a majority of the book! He kept clicking things into place and it was AMAZING how seamlessly it all went together.
It probably helped that rest areas are a fear of mine in general but man was this good!!!! I can’t wait to read more from this author!
This book was plain weird 😂 The only reason it got a 2.5 instead of 2 is because of the last 20 minutes! That threw me for a dang loop and made the book a little better.
So, the audiobook was kind of cool as it incorporated “movie production” scenes but it was also hard to follow. I constantly texted my bookish friend questions like “do I have this right?”, “Is this what happened” because I wasn’t 100% sure. I think if I hadn’t gotten so confused on some portions I may have even enjoyed the book a bit more.
Anyway, overall I think reading this book was a waste of my time and I could have went my whole life without reading it!
*audiobook* Two Freida books in a row that I liked?! Woohoo!
This one gave me major creepy vibes for the majority of the book because of the "trapped" aspect. I didn't really see the ending coming, especially the "last" twist!
I really enjoyed this one and it will go in the top 5 of my most enjoyed Freida books.
Holy shit. Excuse my language but this review needed it for emphasis. I would also like to note that if you are newly postpartum or maybe just a mom all together, you might want to check some disclaimers before reading this book. There was once I had to stop reading and come back because I became physically ill.
This author's writing is rough. I feel like that is the best word to describe it. It is rough, raw, and a little edgy.
This book had a lot of hard subject matter to read but it was a good read and it all came together at the end. The last sentence on the last page had me gasping (even though I wasn't that shocked it still was surprising!)
I heard so many people talk about this book and it's for good reason. This author truly does write in a tragically beautiful way.
