A monstrously swashbuckling adventure like there never has been before. Pirates, surprise teeth, and some of the best monsters all delivered in one book. I would read an entire series of pirate adventures with Lirian, Charlotte, and Cadmus too.
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

Love the series; this one just didn't hit like the other ones. There wasn't a lot of tension in the relationship until suddenly there was, and I didn't feel an urgency to get back to the story when I put it down.
It was very interesting, but after 62 pages we were still discussing hypotheticals and theories of humans from 13,000 years ago, and I needed to move on.
The Supernatural Singles series is such a delight. I love the trip-witches and their individual personalities. Olive is the quiet, keeps to her books sister, and I love watching her step outside her comfort zone. This one is also cozy and pretty stress-free. Read this book will have you wanting to write your own "Dare I Docket."
Also, I'm still championing a prequel book for Grandma Edie.
Dragonfruit was such a fun young adult adventure of a book. It had island vibes, sea dragons, and magical markings that come to life as real animals. The ending felt somehow satisfying but also realistic, not wrapped up in a complete imaginary bow. There was something nice about it and I hope it means we will get more from Makiia Lucier in this world.
Every foray into Cambric Creek is a gift, and this one was no exception. In this one we get shadow tentacles, snarky and quirky side characters, and the most adorable goth witch. But we also get a narrative on grief and belonging and finding your way. Somehow, C.M. continues to make paranormal a context for lovely plots and life lessons.
