It took me so long to read this but it's because everytime I read it I wanted to take notes and discuss among my peers! Learned so much. I like that it's all centred in Canada.
V good and v sexy (so much sex/kink/sexy things) read. I enjoyed an exploration of changing desire/sexuality and family structures later in life story 🙏
I've never read anything by Zoe Whittall that I didn't like. Great book. Dog eared many pages. sticky noted some. Yogurt (spelled yogourt) features prominently.
Excellent essays. I especially liked the ones on white woundedness and the aesthetic of weakness by white artists, and on the publishing industry's lip service on equity & diversity when it's just another industry out to make money 👏🏻
Some really strong poems at the beginning of this collection especially. A number of poems still fell flat for me. A nice book to have on hand for a relatively easy read when I needed it though!
I always learn something from Emily Nagoski! This book had lots of repeat from Come As You Are though, and the whole like last quarter of the book was about women being patient with men & while I'm empathetic to the insidious ways toxic maxulinity haunts people socialized as men I just wasnt really here for that whole bit.
